Client brief

The brief

Branniff runs a working joinery premises where timber, dust and machinery make early fire detection critical — and make any single type of detector the wrong answer on its own. Different parts of the building needed different detection technologies to give early warning without nuisance alarms.

The site also needed proper portable fire extinguisher provision throughout, and both the alarm and the extinguishers kept serviced and certified.

What we delivered

GDC designed and installed an addressable fire alarm system that mixes detection types to suit each area — optical beam detectors across the open workshop spans, linear heat detection cable where dust and machinery rule out conventional devices, and analogue addressable detection through the offices and circulation areas.

A full portable fire extinguisher installation was carried out across the premises, with the right extinguisher type sited at each risk. The system was commissioned, certified and documented, and GDC service the fire alarm and extinguishers on an ongoing basis.
