KME Steelworks
An addressable fire alarm using beam detection and intrinsically safe devices, plus IP CCTV, for a steel fabrication facility.
Client brief
The brief
KME operates a busy steel fabrication facility where high roof heights, airborne dust and hazardous areas rule out a standard point-detection scheme. The site needed early fire detection that works in those conditions, without nuisance alarms halting production.
Alongside detection, KME wanted camera cover across the site and a single servicing arrangement covering the fire, CCTV and intruder systems.
Deliverables
What we delivered
GDC designed and installed an addressable fire alarm system built around the building — optical beam detectors spanning the high-roof production areas, and intrinsically safe detection where the hazardous-area classification demands it.
An IP CCTV system was installed alongside it for site-wide visibility. Everything was commissioned, certified and documented for compliance, and GDC maintain the fire, CCTV and intruder systems under one ongoing service contract.
- Addressable fire alarm system
